CENTERPIECES

This centerpiece was created by Edgerton Floral,
Park Avenue.

Centerpiecs are very important to the look of your reception. If you are having over 100 people at your recepion, you can end up with 20 or 25 tables.

Floral centerpieces usually start at around $45.00 per table and go up from there. Sometimes you need to get creative to cut the costs a little.

Not only for the "money" end of things, sometimes it is fun just to try something Out of the Ordinary to give your reception a different look.

Pictured here are three ideas -----

A large pilsner glass with green apples....you could use any fruit...lemons, limes, oranges or a combination.

Simple votive candles placed on a large leave with river rocks and bamboo. The supplies for this centerpiece may be purchased at an craft store.....leaves will need to be ordered from your florist.

A spiral candle centerpiece purchased for $15.00 each from the internet. It can be used as is, or you could add flowers or rose petals. A simple mirror under the candles will reflect the light.

No matter what your budget is, be creative and add interest to your reception room with a unique centerpiece.

You also may may want to try using 2 or 3 different centerpieces if you have lots of tables.

ALTERNATIVE RING BEARER PILLOW

Designed by Jimmy at Edgerton Floral Company, Park Avenue

Instead of the same old "frilly" white lace ring bearer pillow, have your florist design a unique floral pillow to coordinate with your wedding colors and theme!

The one pictured here is made of lime green kermit mums.

It is the little unique touches that will set your wedding apart from the rest!

NEW BEGINNNINGS

It is hard to believe that the summer is almost over. Summer always seems like a blur to me!!!

I decided that it was a time for a change, a NEW BEGINNING......so....Out of The Ordinary moved to a new office 2 weeks ago.

It is a great office ........lots more space.......and the best thing is it is only 2 miles from my house!!!

Sometimes.....especially when you are busy..... a change in scenery makes you feel like you can keep on going.

I am 3 weddings away from the end of my season....and on October 28th I am leaving for a 2 week VACATION!!!!! :)

We are going to my favorite place in the WORLD!!!!.........THE CARIBBEAN!!!!

When I get back I will be re-grouped and ready to start all over again....good thing since next year is already pretty busy! So much for retirement! :)

Now that everything is calming down, I promise to keep up with my blog.

Please let me know how you like my new site!!!

I THOUGHT IT WAS LOST AGAIN

This Site really has issues!! ha ha I have not been able to find my blog for the last couple of weeks...One of my clients asked why I stopped blogging...when I explained that It was lost.....AGAIN......she said it was there!! ha ha

All of a sudden..it appeared!! OMG....just what I need in the middle of a crazy Summer!!!!

Anyway...My IT guy is in the process of redoing my site and a NEW BLOG that will not disappear!!!

Keep checking my site for the new address!!!

SHORT BREAK

I am back....Last Monday and Tuesday I went to NYC with my sister. We crammed in so much in so much in two days..and we also got to see two shows -- Avenue Q and Hair Spray.

I came back to my "Wedding of the Week!" Thank God my two assistants covered while I was gone.

Anyway, it was a whirlwind week!! I am still trying to recover!!!

While in NYC, I stopped in several bridal stores --- The gowns were incredible and so were the prices!!! But it was fun seeing all of the really upscale designer dresses!!!

We stopped in at Jimmy Choo...their bridal shoes start at 425.00!!!!! However, they do give you champagne while you look!! VERY FUN!

DO'S AND DON'TS SERIES: DON'T TIP # 3: DON'T EXPERIMENT ON YOUR WEDDING DAY!

Don't experiment with new hair styles, make up and beauty treatments the day of your wedding.

Make sure that you have a hair and make-up trial several weeks before your wedding. You may want to try a couple of styles to see what looks best.

Also, DO NOT have a facial or facial wax the week of your wedding. Even if your skin usually does not break out after these treatments......YOU NEVER KNOW!

REMEMBER: Keep your hair and make-up simple. Your look should be natural..you want to look special...not OVER DONE!!!!!!

DO'S AND DON'TS SERIES: DO'S TIP #2:PROVIDE A "FUN STATION" FOR THE KIDS AT YOUR WEDDING

Instead of providing a "Kids Table" for all of your young guests to eat together (which sometimes is scary!) Provide a "FUN STATION." Seat them with their parents for dinner ......when their parents are dancing and talking with friends and family, the kids can go to he station and entertain themselves.

Designate a table (out of the way...in a corner) for kids to "Hang Out." Fill the table with coloring books, crayons, games, puzzles, etc.

If you have several small guests, you may want to provide a babysitter to keep an eye on things.

Ask your reception site if they have a smaller room you can use for a "KID'S AREA."
Definitely have a babysitter if you have a separate room. A room is great because you can bring in a TV and have a Movie and Popcorn to entertain the children.
they will appreciate having something just for them.

The kids will appreciate having something just for them!! (The parents will also thank you!).

DO'S and DON'TS SERIES: DON'TS TIP # 1: DON'T FORGET FUN TOUCHES

Fun touches that represents your personality will make you day special!! Here are some fun ideas: -

->Wear 'FUN" Shoes....blue shoes will fill that age old saying "SOMETHING BLUE!"

->Include some "FUN" facts about you and your fiance in your program for your guests to read while they are waiting for your ceremony to begin! (try to think of things that most people don't know about you...like volunteer work you are involved in, etc.)

->If you are having an outdoor ceremony/reception, have big buckets of personalized bottles of water available for your guests.

->Instead of a guest book that you probably will never look at after your wedding, Give each guest a quilt square to write a thought on. After the wedding, bring them to a profesional quilter to make you a memory that will last a lifetime and can be passed on from generation to generation!

DO'S and DON'TS SERIES: DO Tip #1..INVOLVE YOUR FIANCE IN THE PLANNING!!!

Try to get your Fiance involved in the planning. He may complain at first, but you will be surprised by his opinions.

Every groom-to-be is different, but generally speaking, they love to be in charge of the music!!! They also, of course love the tastings!!! :)

You want your day to reflect both of your personalties......so let him know that his opinions DO matter!!!!

DO'S and DON'TS SERIES:

Before I had the crash.....and lost all of my material.....I was writing about the important Do's and Don'ts for your wedding planning.

I will start the series over.....I am still stressed over loosing all of my material!!!! ha ha
